What today’s fortune cookie has to say about goals:

A goal is a dream with a deadline

A trip to a Thai/Chinese restaurant tonight, inspired by a recommendation given to my fellow librarian, provides yet more fortune cookie wisdom.

fortune-cookie.jpgOkay, two great fortunes tonight prompted me to share with you, so here they are:

“Believe in your abillities, confidence will lead you on”

“Better to understand little than to misunderstand a lot”

Here’s the latest, greatest, and warmest wisdom from tonight’s fortune cookies.

Look! Good fortune is all around you.”
Man’s mind is not a container to be filled but rather a fire to be kindled.

Let’s keep on learning; keep on challenging ourselves; and continue making our libraries great!

Stay warm. It’s below zero in Wisconsin.

fortune-cookie.jpg “Food for thought” from tonight’s fortune cookies:

  • “People do not lack strength , they lack will”
  • “Man’s biggest mistake is to believe that he’s working for someone else”.

fortune-cookie.jpgAh, nothing like fortune cookies to give one pause to think and reflect! Here’s two from tonight’s dining.

Do not fear failure

Greet the world every morning with curiosity and hope

Both are important to remember to apply in all aspects of our lives, but especially our library lives. If we live in the shadow of failure, we will continue to plod along and try nothing new. Life is too exciting and too short to live it in fear.

How wonderful to greet each day with curiosity and hope! Optimism, curiosity, and hope, together with an enthusiasm for putting new ideas into action, without worrying about failure, can indeed help a library staff wow the world and their customers!

fortune cookiesSuccess is rarely created unless you are having fun at it” This one bears remembering. When we are having fun doing our job well, we are creating success for us, our co-workers, and our customers. In turn, we not only have a better library, but one that we enjoy as well.

fortune cookies
Since my last post was quite serious, it’s time for still more fortune cookie wisdom. Here are the two most recent ones:

You are on the verge of something big.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

We make a living by the paychecks we receive, but we make a life by what we contribute to our libraries and the customers we serve. This might be one interpretation of the second fortune cookie. Food for thought anyway.

I love fortune cookies. Not only do they taste wonderful after a good meal, but they are fun and often contain some tidbits of wisdom that can be shared. Two recent ones:

“Before the beginning of great brillance, there must be chaos”.

“Luck favors prepared mind”.

And one of my own: He who makes good day, has good day.
